Here at CR towers we were just bemoaning the lack of decent April Fools Day pranks. Thankfully, Nike just came through with this great film that documents the process of collecting and inserting the very special air that's included in Nike Air sneakers...

Nice ad well shot. It's a shame the idea has been plagiarised. the idea of collecting atheletes air was the basis for an Onitsuka tiger campaign from Pugmire and Cleary formally working at Strawberry frog, Amsterdam nearly eight years ago.

I think it would have been better if they played it totally straight... everyone in the shoot has a half grin on their face as if to say 'ha ha, signpost!! we're only kidding' as if we didn't know, thus making morons of us and morons of them...

not quite original, it's a lot like Onitsuka Tiger the breath of champions, on the official tiger site it is viewable

Way too long, we get the point early on and for a Nike ad, dare I say boring.

Not really an April fools if it's played so tongue-in-cheek is it? Didn't fool me - perhaps it fooled Nike.

Way too similar in concept to this.

Witty, on brand and clever with bags of celebrity sports personality. Nike hit the nail on the head really haven't they? Elements similar to other campaigns but this is executed brilliantly and hits a perfect target audience.

I have to strongly disagree with the comments about this being original and fresh.

I find the concept extremely weak and the execution poor.

The concept seems incredibly passe, and I'm not surprised it's been done before. It's not quirky or funny, but it's clearly trying very very hard to be. When the facade comes away like that, all you get is a very pathetic parade of celebrity athlete cameos.

Perhaps the biggest crime though is the choice of music. It makes me think Nike are stuck in 1998.

This whole schtick, this quirky-funny style has become so mainstream and common that you really have to be super super super tight with execution. In this case, as with so many others, it just comes across as extremely lazy and arrogant. As if they thought the concept was good enough to just paint-by-numbers.

It's not.

Strong concept but lacks the authenticity to parody properly. Comes across more as a straight ad or viral and even then it feels like a weak rough cut.

Nothing at all like the Tiger spot.
Duh! This is for the new Nike AIR. Geddit? AIR.
I had Nike Airs in '89 so Air has been around at least 22 years.

This spoof hits it just right. Light handed, light hearted. Cool.
Never seen Maria so good and I'm a huuuuuge fan.

Lighten up y'all. It's April Fools.

And it's just funny and entertaining to watch.

Well done!

I think this is the best April Fools videos I have seen this year. It's got a lot of fun in it and shows that Nike is more down to earth than it may seem the rest of the 364 days of the year.
