Film magazine Little White Lies has just launched an interesting creative brief: reimagine your favourite film as a six frame comic book story. The best mini-strips will then be featured in the next issue...

Upcoming release, Kick Ass, will be the next 'cover' film for the magazine (the film that LWL centres an issue around, alongside its regular film news and reviews) which is based on Mark Millar's comic book series.

For the new issue, Little White Lies are asking creative types to come up with a comic strip of a favourite film, albeit it an ultra-condensed version over a mere six frames.

You can download the template for the strip, here, as a JPG, PSD, or PDF file. It's basically this kind of two-by-three panel structure (I've been working on one myself):

The submission guidelines, as per the LWL blog, are as follows:

- All entries must be black and white. No grayscale may be used – we're looking for a traditional comic book style. Please use whatever media you see fit.

- All entries should be sent to kickass@thechurchoflondon.com as 300dpi JPGs or Tiffs, full size, (all downloadable templates are the correct size) or they won't be good enough quality to print in the magazine. If your finished artwork is too large to email, please use a file transfer site such as YouSendit.

- You must stick to our template exactly, not breaking down the boxes or altering the format.

- The brief is open to interpretation, so it can be literal or more skewed, if you prefer. So long as it tells the full story of one film, in a manner that would be pretty much coherent to someone who'd never seen it, we're happy.

LWL will need your entries in by 6.00pm on Friday Febuary 12.

"Be creative – be awesome – blow our minds," say the LWL crew. "The best entry will make a full page in the front of the issue, while all the rest of our favourite entries will be made into a special 16 page digital edition of LWLies."
