Design studio Atelier Choque Le Goff on AI and luck

The two-person design studio discusses how they’ve refined their working practice and why certain tech developments don’t align with their evolving approach

Donald Choque and Yoann Le Goff first met at school and instantly found themselves working together. These formative years allowed them to establish the best way to work together as a duo and they founded their studio Atelier Choque Le Goff soon after they graduated.

“As well as working together, we also really wanted to experience our sensibilities and vision about graphic design in the real world,” the pair say. “We both had internships and short-term jobs in various companies before and knew that it wasn’t where we wanted to be.”

Running your own studio takes a lot, but what’s key to Choque and Le Goff’s practice is working in a constant state of research and evolution. “The risk would be to adopt a position of self-satisfaction and to be stuck in it, we always try to question what we do (meaning, aesthetics, techniques, etc.) and make it grow,” they explain. “These challenges are natural and it is what we love about our discipline. The other challenge around creation could also be the reflection of the way you present a project, how you defend your ideas.”
